My Car Needs A New Manifold Or Timing Belt
March 20, 2008 Filed Under: Car stuff 195 words
For the longest my car has been making a really annoying screeching sound. I thought it was the timing belt because millions of people have told me so, but when I went to get the oil change the other day one of the guys told me I need the manifold replaced, because that’s why my car is screeching. My mom had made an appointment for 10AM today to fix the timing belt because she didn’t want it bursting on me, so we are still going to go in and get whatever fixed. She’s paying for it and I’m so thankful because as always, I’m broke. The timing belt also needs changing, but not now if it’s not the first priority. According to my car manual it should have been changed at 60,000 miles, and I’m almost at 80,000.
Imagine! No more screeching car! I won’t be the laughing stock of the city and people won’t know that it is me pulling up in the driveway. No, seriously…whenever I get home my little sister has the door open and everything because she could hear the sound from a mile away. After today, hopefully that won’t happen again!
Talk About A Strange Day!

I went to two different places to get an oil change yesterday, and both of them told me it would be a 2-3 hour wait, so might as well come back tomorrow. Nevertheless, I went at 7AM in the morning when they just open…both of their “oil changing employees” were late. The second one flat out told me that technicians don’t come in until 8:30AM…then why open at 7? Just to sell tires? Puh-leez!
I came back home and waited and waited to do the piercing as mentioned in the last post. When my sister’s friend finally showed up, I was psyched and scared at the same time. I stopped at Quizno’s and bought a huge cup and filled it with Raspberry Lemonade (yum!) so that I would have plenty of sugar to keep my blood pressure up.
When we got there, the man complained about using the Bioplast rings that we ordered online and told us that he’ll do it, but if we notice anything strange to come back immediately and buy Titanium. We both have nickel allergies, so we were scared that maybe the little bit of nickel in Surgical Steel and the even less amount in Titanium might cause an allergic reaction. We agreed just so we didn’t have to spend extra money even though he assured us that he’s never had someone complain of an allergic reaction to Titanium. He didn’t feel comfortable cutting them, though, so it’s kinda big.
To see my piercing, click here! LOL. I cannot believe I posted a picture of my unshaved happy line with a belly ring in it. I may cut the ring down myself after a month. I bought a saline wound wash to spray it with when I can’t wash it with antibacterial soap, and I also bought Epsom salt for soaking off smut. No smut yet, though, thankfully.
The sad thing is that the guy didn’t use a clamp. He just put the dot and pushed the needle right up and yanked it out. Then he put in the ring and closed it. The whole thing took less than a minute, but it seemed like forever and it hurt like crazy. I didn’t want my sister’s friend to freak out, though, so I didn’t scream. Afterwards, I got up and it was really comfortable and didn’t hurt. It was bleeding a bit, though. When the blood dried up I felt some minor discomfort. I passed out once in the car and nearly passed out at Walgreen’s, too. So much for getting my blood sugar level up.
I thought sleeping would be a pain. After I took a shower I put Vaseline on the ring so it could move around comfortably and so that it wouldn’t be tight and itchy while I was sleeping. That worked rather well, because I slept in peace and didn’t scratch it out overnight. I don’t know if I’m supposed to do that, though…
