Should Our Partners in Intimate Relationships Share Their Perceptions of Us?

I believe that I have the right, in an intimate relationship, to expect my partner to share his perceptions of me, whether those perceptions are positive or negative. My reasoning is that this self-disclosure is necessary in order to avoid problems based on barriers of perception, as well as to correct problems that are actually true perceptions of negative behaviors.

I think that if two people truly want to be together, they should take every little opportunity to better their relationship. Sharing perceptions is one of those little opportunities. If couples shared their perceptions of each other more often, they may have a better chance of eliminating problem areas by working on an agreeable compromise, or by banishing incorrect thoughts.

Another reason why I believe this is necessary is because being honest with each other is important in an intimate relationship. If a couple can’t share their perceptions of each other, which is related to their feelings for each other, then there are bound to be problems ahead unless all their perceptions are good. And if so, they’ll probably end up disappointed because they expected too much from each other.

Uncivilized?!!

Right now I’m watching a program, The Gods Must Be Crazy on On Demand. It’s about an uncivilized family that received a gift from the gods. The gift was a Coca Cola bottle!

Anyways, the reason I’m sharing this is because of something funny that one of the men did. They found many uses for the bottle and eventually began to feel emotions they had never felt–jealousy, rage, envy–because there was only one bottle. Everything they had before was always readily available an abundant. Two of the women began fighting over the bottle, one hit the other with it, and then they both started crying.

One of the men resorted to throwing the bottle back to the gods. When it started to come back down, he shouted to everyone to look out. Then he threw the bottle up in the air again. He shouted look out again, but it hit his daughter in the head. I started cracking up!

He decided the gods didn’t want to take it back, so he was going to bury it. He buried it, a hyena dug it up overnight (smelled the blood from the daughter’s head on it) and a warthog chased the hyena away, causing it to drop the bottle right beside the campsite.

When they woke up, they decided that the gods were angry with them, and one man said he would walk to the end of the Earth to throw the bottle away. Another man said that it will take a long time, and supposed that he would have to walk for “20, maybe 40″ days. He said he’ll do it!

Imagine if we lived in such an uncivilized society. I can’t say that it would be better or worse than life as I know it. For one, they seem to live in peace with plenty of freedom. They don’t have to worry about wearing clothes, they apologize to the animals that they are about to kill for food, and they don’t have any problems with possessions. On the other hand, they’re kind of dumb. I think even if I didn’t know anything about gravity, once I threw the bottle in the air and it came back down, I would think the same thing would happen again. They must have tremendous faith in their gods to believe they would take the bottle back to fix the problems it was causing.

So, I thought I’d be like the millions of other websites that are making layouts to celebrate the Christmas holiday. That means the layout I spoke about a few blogs ago will be waiting for the new year to begin…maybe New Years Day I’ll put it up. Oh well.

As anyone who has been here before might notice, I’ve moved the blog to the main page! No more ugly Enter page. It was really ugly. If you don’t believe me, go look at google’s cache. Do it quick before Googlebot comes to my website again.

I’m still doing some minor fixes, but as we all know…I’m a lazy bum and hardly ever get through the changes I want to make. I had a background to use as opposed to the red at the sides, but I can’t find a way to use it and make it repeat since I have the other two div layers. Anybody know how to do multiple backgrounds like that? I found one tutorial, but it only works with CSS 3 which is only supported in Safari. Majority of my visitors use firefox, so I have to cater to them.
