Butterflies and Mythology

I took the kids I was babysitting today to Butterfly World. It is such an amazing place! The little girl (4) was scared of the butterflies’ feet, so every time one flew near her (which was every 2 seconds), she started crying. It was really sad. I ended up taking them for just a quick 15-minute walk around the garden (spending the bulk of the time where the bigger butterflies were since they fly higher in the air, and then to the cafe to eat. It was good timing, too, because then it began to rain. I took pictures, so I’ll attempt to put ‘em up on Monday.
Right now I’m watching Magic In The Water. Something funny just happened. The dad was digging a hole to China at the beach, and the son found it stupid. A Japanese boy was running away from the monster and fell in the hole. As the boy is getting out, the son sees him and says, “China!” Then the Japanese boy runs away and the son is screaming “Wait!” In the next scene, he starts digging the hole more to find out how the boy got through the “tunnel.”
Later on I’m going to my friend’s birthday party. I’m excited to go, because I haven’t seen her since last year May…BUT (because there’s always a but) I really want to go to sleep because I have another babysitting job tomorrow and still need to study for my test on Monday. There is so much material that I need to cover for Biology that it’s not even funny! I hope the party is worth my while!
I Almost Got Ran Over By A Car!
January 23, 2008 Filed Under: College, Movies, Pet Peeves 259 words
How would you feel if you’re walking in a 5MPH zone and nearly get run over by a car? I know that my first thought was to memorize the plate number, go back into my car, and give the guy a nice and highly visible dent. That’s my life he nearly took, after all. Once I got over the shock, I decided that I didn’t have the time or energy to waste cursing at him (his windows were closed anyway, but I could have still flipped him off). I was pretty peeved, though.
I had to get to Chemistry class, after all (did I mention I’m writing this in there because I’m sooo bored?), and try to learn about wavelengths. By the way, our teacher just gave a crack to tell our friends “C over lambda” if they ask “What’s nu?”.
I did want to mention that I wasted more time that I should have been studying reformatting old posts and I also watched Cloverfield Sunday night. Everybody’s been blogging about it, so why shouldn’t I? The shaky cam thing didn’t get to me until they were going to save Beth and the guy with the camera seemed to have the least trouble crossing the divide. How weird…And the worst part is that the movie ended right when I was starting to like it. So much for keeping visitor interest. If a sequel came out, I think I’d like to watch it just to see if the guy Beth took to the party was the monster-thing.
