Talk About A Strange Day!
March 18, 2008 Filed Under: Car stuff, Pet Peeves, Piercing, Yummy! 520 words
I went to two different places to get an oil change yesterday, and both of them told me it would be a 2-3 hour wait, so might as well come back tomorrow. Nevertheless, I went at 7AM in the morning when they just open…both of their “oil changing employees” were late. The second one flat out told me that technicians don’t come in until 8:30AM…then why open at 7? Just to sell tires? Puh-leez!
I came back home and waited and waited to do the piercing as mentioned in the last post. When my sister’s friend finally showed up, I was psyched and scared at the same time. I stopped at Quizno’s and bought a huge cup and filled it with Raspberry Lemonade (yum!) so that I would have plenty of sugar to keep my blood pressure up.
When we got there, the man complained about using the Bioplast rings that we ordered online and told us that he’ll do it, but if we notice anything strange to come back immediately and buy Titanium. We both have nickel allergies, so we were scared that maybe the little bit of nickel in Surgical Steel and the even less amount in Titanium might cause an allergic reaction. We agreed just so we didn’t have to spend extra money even though he assured us that he’s never had someone complain of an allergic reaction to Titanium. He didn’t feel comfortable cutting them, though, so it’s kinda big.
To see my piercing, click here! LOL. I cannot believe I posted a picture of my unshaved happy line with a belly ring in it. I may cut the ring down myself after a month. I bought a saline wound wash to spray it with when I can’t wash it with antibacterial soap, and I also bought Epsom salt for soaking off smut. No smut yet, though, thankfully.
The sad thing is that the guy didn’t use a clamp. He just put the dot and pushed the needle right up and yanked it out. Then he put in the ring and closed it. The whole thing took less than a minute, but it seemed like forever and it hurt like crazy. I didn’t want my sister’s friend to freak out, though, so I didn’t scream. Afterwards, I got up and it was really comfortable and didn’t hurt. It was bleeding a bit, though. When the blood dried up I felt some minor discomfort. I passed out once in the car and nearly passed out at Walgreen’s, too. So much for getting my blood sugar level up.
I thought sleeping would be a pain. After I took a shower I put Vaseline on the ring so it could move around comfortably and so that it wouldn’t be tight and itchy while I was sleeping. That worked rather well, because I slept in peace and didn’t scratch it out overnight. I don’t know if I’m supposed to do that, though…
Naughty Kids Say It’s Too Cold To Play At The Park
March 10, 2008 Filed Under: Babysitting, Pet Peeves 268 words
The kids I have been babysitting for the past two weeks decided that it was time to start giving me trouble. Since Thursday, they have been refusing to do homework and also crying about every little thing. They told me that I’m the worst babysitter because I never let them have any fun (making a tent with the bed sheets and tying a million things to the TV, door, and chest of drawers). I can’t believe they said that after all the cool places I took them!
Anyways, I decided to take them to the park so they could work out some of their hyperactivity. They said it was too cold to play once we got there. So I took them to the mall. One wants ice cream, and a large at that. I buy him a medium and he complains that it’s too little. I told him if he finishes it I’ll buy him another one. Half-way through the ice-cream, he decides that he can’t hold anymore. Ah-ha!
Then the girl decides that she wants to buy a toy. I say no and she starts grumbling. Then she devises a plan and tells me that if I let her get a toy, she’ll pick out a cute outfit for me that is just the right size. I ask how is she going to pay for the outfit and she says I’m going to pay for it, she’s just going to pick it out and make sure it’s really cute. I was surprised to hear such negotiation from a 4-year-old. I said no, anyway. Darn private school kids!
The Most Disgusting Smoothie Ever
February 23, 2008 Filed Under: Babysitting, Pet Peeves, Yummy! 355 words
I finished babysitting at midnight and I was sleepy. So what does a non-coffee drinker decide to do? Hit up Dunkin’ Donuts and order a smoothie! Little did I know that the only person working at Young Circle Dunkin’ Donuts that night had no idea how to make a smoothie.
First, I ordered the Tropical Smoothie. Why? Because that’s what I like. She says there’s none of those, only Strawberry Banana and Mango Passion. I say I’ll take the Mango Passion and a Apple n’ Spice donut. Not too hard. You throw some mango mix, throw some passion mix, squirt a little yogurt, and fill the blender with the appropriate amount of ice. Blend, throw it in the cup, pop on the lid, and hand it to the customer. Trust me, I know! I used to work at Einstein’s.
So she hands me something (yes, something!), and I go into my car. I noticed that it was thicker than usual and also that it was the color of the Tropical Smoothie, so I tasted it before driving off. YUCK! I went back in and told her that it doesn’t taste right. I wait 15 minutes while she’s helping other people so that I can have the smoothie remade.
The new smoothie was still the wrong consistency, but it was the right color. I taste it and it taste like mangoes but no passion fruit. I decide that it’s no use having her remake it again because she can’t follow simple instructions (yes, they have instruction sheets that they can look at should they forget–or not know in the first place–how to make a simple drink). While it wasn’t disgusting, it was still too thick. I think she probably put ice cream instead of yogurt or only used the mango base and lite ice or something like that. If you’ve ever had a Dunkin’ Donuts smoothie, then you know that it’s usually an icy drink. It’s definitely not supposed to be the consistency of a malt.
I drive home deciding that I wasted my $5.60 that I just got. The donut wasn’t too hot either, by the way.
